Our group dances for the very famous annual event in Hiratsuka called Tanabata Matsuri (Evening of the 7th Star Festival). It is derived from the Chinese star festival celebrating the reunion of lovers once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month who are separated by the Milky Way.
On July 7th over 1,000 of us dance at the festival parade. We have come to the Honolulu Festival to represent this Hiratsuka Thousand Dancers group.
