The Hawaii United Okinawa Association is a non-profit organization serving as the umbrella organization for 50 member clubs statewide, and represents over 40,000 Okinawa immigrants and descendants in Hawaii. It was established in 1951 as the Hawaii Okinawa Rengo Kai, and renamed the Hawaii United Okinawa Association in 1995. Our Mission is to promote, perpetuate, and preserve the Okinawan culture in Hawaii and we are proud to annually host the Okinawan Festival, the biggest ethnic event in the state, traditionally held on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
