Hawaii

Established in 1906 and located in Hawai’i island, Hilo High School is rich in tradition and honor. Their own hula class, Nā Liko Lehua O Hilo Hanakahi, led by Kumu ʻAwapuhi Duldulao, is accompanied by The Hilo High School Viking Band, under the direction of Mrs. Ku’ulei Arceo. Leading the band is Drum Major, Tyler Maag. Hilo March has been adopted as the “Island Song of Hawai’i”, the Big Island, written in the summer of 1881 by Royal Hawaiian Band member, Joseph Kapaeau Ae’a. The band proudly represents the blue and gold pride of Hilo High School. “Once a Viking, always a Viking!”
