Our group enjoys the game of “karuta”(playing cards) by applying the Japanese cultural tradition of reading “Ogura Hyakunin Isshu” (100 poems by 100 poets). The beauty of the poems reflect the Japanese people’s appreciation of the four distinct seasons that we enjoy and the inner workings of the human spirit. You will be able to watch the spectacular performance of the 14th reigning Karuta champion Ms. Fumie Watanabe, the perpetual queen of Karuta. We hope to be able to touch your hearts through this Japanese tradition and that many of you will come to participate.
